Consultants of Technology Co., Ltd (COT) through the efforts of Dr. Pornchai Ongwongsakul, COT Transmission Engineer and EGAT Liaison and Mr. Bien Anatan, COT Power Sector Advisor for United States Agency for International Development (USAID) SEA Smart Power Program (SPP) facilitated a one day Study Tour to EGAT’s Sirindhorn Dam Floating Solar PV facility last October 4, 2023 for the Philippine Department of Energy (DOE) delegation.
DOE is interested in the long-term viability of large scale floating solar, and even more importantly, its impact to local communities, ecosystems, and industries. They are embarking an in-depth review of all available best practices and standards on floating solar PV, with the intent to adopt international standards and develop or refine new ones that would best suit our country’s conditions. It is in this regard, a delegation of seven personnel visited the site. This was in partnership with the (USAID – Philippine Mission) through its Energy Secure Philippines (ESP) Activity for this endeavor.
